MathBoard Addition

MathBoard Addition, a free (but can be upgraded for $1.99) app, is a virtual chalkboard that creates addition problems for students. Students choose one of five multiple choice answers to finish the problem. If they choose the correct answer, the student is rewarded with "CORRECT" and another problem. If incorrect, they may skip the problem, figure out the answer on the workspace below, or watch the Problem Solver which gives a step by step approach to answering the problem. This is a great tool that can be used as a practice activity, can be timed as a "Mad Minute", or used for assessment. The Problem Solver and workspace allows students to see step by step the correct way to solve the problem. The pros of this App are that it is free (for addition only), and teachers can use it as both as a practice and assessment tool. Students can also see how problems are solved step by step if they cannot figure them out. Also, the difficulty level can be adjusted to fit the student or lesson. The con of this App are that it is free only for addition, and that to get other operations it costs $1.99 ( a small price to pay for a great tool.) Overall, it is an awesome tool for teachers and students alike.

  1. This app looks like i would be very helpful for students struggling with math problems, i like the fact that if the student cannot figure the problem out they have a solver that goes through all the steps to show the student how to solve the problem

  2. I think that this would be a cool app to use. This way students are able to see the steps they take as they work on the problem. I think students are showing their work less and less and it is important to show their work. Having a tool to walk them through the steps will be helpful if they are away from school working on homework or if the teacher is busy with a different student.

  3. I really liked this app because it helps the students see the step of the problem as they work on them. This is great for students need to visually see what they have to do and if teacher is not around this can be their teacher! Nice pick!

  4. I like this app because it takes students back to the basics of working on a chalk board (not really of course) but the concept is the same. I like how the app would go step by step when it had to solve a problem because if a student gets stuck or gets a problem incorrect, they can follow along and see when and where their progress went awry. This seems like a fun tool for students to use!
