CloudOn
Cost: FREE!!
Pros: Allows users to create, edit, and view documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Then your documents are held in your Dropbox (another app that is free). Having the Dropbox app, where all the your documents are stored, allows the iPad user to access documents on the iPad and any other device that allows you to access Dropbox. The app is simple to use and easy to navigate.
Cons: Can only be used when the iPad has internet. It sometimes freezes, but one has to be patient at this time and learn not to freak out that all of your data will be lost.
Uses in Education: I would try to use this in my classroom if all my students are allowed to have iPads. It is an easy way for everyone to write documents, keeping them in their seats and not having to transition the whole class to a computer lab. I would love to use this in my language arts classroom, a science classroom (the excel sheets could be used as data collecting tables), or any other classes when the students need to make a presentation.
This is the best writing document app that I have found so far. I use Evernote and Neu. Annotate for notes in class, but I wish I had found this earlier, so I could have used it from the beginning of the semester.
Just downloaded this and connected to Dropbox. Haven't tried anything out yet, but if it really lets me open and use word documents this is going to be great! Thanks!
