The app that I reviewed is called FlashToPass Free Math Flash Cards, an app geared towards elementary school.
Pros: This is a great free interactive app for testing children with their math techniques. They can do any kind of elementary math and can go all the way up to the double digits. There are many kinds of levels in this application and it will time the children as well to see how fast they can do 50 flash cards. This could be used at home or at school and would definitely help them out. Also, if the child cannot figure out the answer to the problem, this app will not go on until they answer it correctly and there is no way to cheat.
Cons: I really did not see many cons in this app. However, this app is only for fun and testing your students. Also, this application may rush the students because it is timed and they will most likely just press the answer as fast as they can and may not think about the process in the math equation.
Use: I would definitely use this in my classroom for a fun game to practice their math skills. I would also use this app as a pretest to help students improve on what they have been learning.
I think this is a great app to have for student iPads because it is a fun way for students to practice their addition,subtraction,multiplication, and division facts individually. They can be challenged to their personal level without feeling embarrassed. I also like that it is timed so that students can work to improve within a given level before moving on.
ReplyDeleteI personally really like this app and could be used both at home and in the classroom. I related this app to the second grade class I will pre student teach in, and that they do these types of problems for homework. I think this is a great app for young students.
