Cost: Free

Educreations is an interactive whiteboard that allows you to record presentations while you draw pictures, edit illustrations, create diagrams, or present equations.  The possibilities are endless, as you create unique lessons for use both inside and outside the classroom.  Teachers could pre-record lessons if they are going to be gone, post lessons online for student reference after class, or merely choose to utilize the app as a mobile whiteboard.  Educreations has numerous practical applications, and best of all, it is free!

Pros:  Educreations is a free, easy to use app, allowing teachers to record both audio and visual aspects of a lesson, as they interact with the touchscreen whiteboard.  Teachers might utilize short lesson clips throughout lessons, save lessons for future reference, or post lessons or lesson clips online for future student reference.

Cons:  Teachers may fall into habits of recording daily lessons and playing them for students.  This may cause students to disengage in class, due to lack of teach-student interaction.  Also, if teachers post lessons online day after day, students may disengage with the reasoning that they can reference the lessons after class if need be.

Teachers should not rely on Educreations for every lesson day after day, but the concept of a teacher recording an interactive whiteboard lesson on the iPad could be very useful on occasion.
